Problem The increased demand for Crossfit environments led to gyms/boxes having an overwhelming demand, and the systems offered for organization did not prioritize both sides: Gyms & Users

Approach The project required field research to understand how a Crossfit environment was structured, and as a means of organizing the physical space, an application was created to assist users in their exercises, track their results, and allow them to schedule their sessions through the app itself.

Key Results

The solution reflects the experience lived in the physical space, complementing it with other functions made possible only through observational research.
The addition of a timer for users to count their time was made possible through observation.

Context The client approached us wanting to understand how we could assist them with their product, from branding to user experience when entering the system they needed to create. Keeping in mind that it was a product aimed at the CrossFit gym environment, we had to immerse ourselves to understand what these places were like.

Challenge It was necessary to learn more about the environment in which the product was inserted, as well as the dynamics of the spaces and at what moments it was possible to integrate a user assistance system.

Goals & Objectives

🏋
Understanding the experience of a CrossFit environment
📲
Develop a virtual space for users that facilitates their daily CrossFit routine
📌
Develop a better experience than the apps already offered in the market
🛠
Enable the user to have functions beyond those that exist in the physical space and with greater accuracy
📅
Generateflexibility for gyms regarding the scheduling of students in each box.

Process In addition to monitoring CrossFit environments, it was necessary to understand how users interacted with their phones during exercises. During an empirical observational research, it was possible to understand that users used their devices in 3 situations:

🎧
Listen to music
💬
Sending Messages to friends / Liking friends & photos
Counting the time of their exercises

It was also necessary to conduct desk research on the best app experiences, both in the login stage and in the development of the app and its actions for practicing and executing tasks.
Market research was conducted to understand both the CrossFit market and the available solutions, and it was understood that the subtlety of information was what would facilitate the use for users participating in a CrossFit environment.

Crossboard App emerges to facilitate the demand of people in CrossFit gyms from scheduling appointments, in addition to creating a virtual environment for the user that reflects the day-to-day execution and monitoring of their exercises.

Visual Identity

For the project, it was necessary to create the Crossboard brand, and that's where we started its development using the Gruta Space creation methodology.
Initially, we prepared a briefing together with the clients that defined a The intention in creating the brand was to bring an idea of

What did you like most about the final project?

The project had an execution far beyond what was expected. What I liked most was the interaction done entirely remotely but with a product with very well-defined aesthetics and the user experience being thought out point by point.

Talk about your experience working with me.

From the beginning, the developed product took a form that we didn't expect, and the interaction with Sibelius was always very well done, and I can say that he is an attentive person and that it's very pleasant to work with him.

Would you hire me again? If so, why?

Not only would I hire, but I have already hired since this service for several others. And I also don't fail to recommend to others.

Personal Learnings

This project allowed me to explore new perspectives on an unfamiliar environment, understand existing practices, and effectively break them down into the app experience.
As the sole designer, I had to create with a broader perspective not only considering my own observations but also anticipating how diverse users would interact with the application.
